"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness"..Galatians5:22

KINDNESS

Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith"

One of the fruits of the Spirit is kindness, which a believer in Christ needs to possess and show to others.  In Luke Chapter 10 Jesus told a touching parable, in which, a case of a person, who traveled from Jerusalem to Jericho, was cited.  The person as he traveled from Jerusalem to Jericho, he fell in the hands of thieves, who stripped him, injured and left him there.  A priest came by that way and had not shown any kindness to the injured traveled but left him and traveled his way. Likewise, there came a Levite, who saw the injured person, and left him all alone, without showing any kindness. There also came another man, a Samaritan, who saw the injured traveler, lying there injured, clothes striped, wounded. The Samaritan did not walk by just as the priest did, nor did the Levite.  Priest is supposed to be preaching the good news about God, but he did not show any kindness toward the injured person.  The Levite, who comes from the priestly family of Aaron, did not show any kindness, either.  The Samaritan, who belongs to a sect that is neglected, and hated, is the one, who came by to show kindness to the injured traveler.  He bound the wounds, poured oil and wine on the wounds, and took care of the injured person.  He not only did that but he also took the injured person along with him to  Inn, and paid the charges for his residence there. In addition to that, when he left the next day, he told the innkeeper that he will pay any extra expenditure incurred on the injured traveler.  That is the kindness a person should show to his neighbor.  Jesus was telling this parable to a law-keeper, and asked him who was the true neighbor?  The law keeper told that he that showed mercy was the neighbor. Jesus said in Matthew 5:41 "And whosoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two."
