CHRIST THE LAMBCHRIST'S DEATH, RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION Can some one die for us and yet we get salvation? Yes, Just as sin entered the world, through, the seminal head, Adam, who is the father of all nations, salvation is given free of cost, when we believe in Jesus Christ, who died for us, on the cross of Calvary. Romans 5:12; 3:25" Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned." Adam was a free person to choose what he needs in the "Garden of Eden" except to eat the forbidden fruit, which he ate, misusing his freedom and yielding to the temptation of his wife, Eve, who first ate it and gave it to him. This resulted in transgression of God's commandment leading to physical death. If a man jumps from the top of a building with an intention of committing suicide, he can not return to the top of the building, even if he changes his mind mid way because his intention was deliberate and his desire was to die. His is a free act, and he can not reverse the act. Similarly Adam fell in body, soul and spirit. If spirit is compared to the top story of a three-storied building and soul and body are compared to second story and the basement respectively, the top story fell into the second, and both fell into the basement. The whole man kind was affected in the fall. Romans 3:21-27 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him who believes in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished." It is vicarious atonement. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. All nations were within Adam. When he committed sin all his offspring inherited the sinful nature that was imbibed by him, and consequently he and his generations, have become sinful. Jesus Christ, who was sinless, died on the cross of Calvary, the salvation, is offered to every one, who believe on Him. Just as Abraham sacrificed the lamb in place of Isaac, God the Father offered God the Son, Jesus Christ as a sacrifice for our sake. God tested Abraham. He asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son for Him. Abraham was not reluctant. On their way, to Moriah, Isaac, the only son of Abraham, asked him, as to where the lamb for the sacrifice was. Abraham knew that Isaac was to be sacrificed, and he said to his son that God would provide the lamb. The death of Jesus Christ was unique in itself. He has offered Himself, to be crucified for our sake. No one forced Him, as one does one with sheep or goat, while offering sacrifice. Sheep or goat would have no choice, but to offer itself, for the sacrifice, and proceeds, as and when it is draggedto the place of sacrifice. But the death of Jesus was not in similar lines. He said if he wanted he would request His Father, in heaven, to send battalions, of angels, to fight with the people who arrested him. Jesus CONCEDED to be arrested at an appointed time, when His ministering in the world has come to an end. Several times people tried to troubleHim. Nevertheless, He got rid of all them by giving apt answers. Jesus delivered up His life, on His own in to the hands of His Father. None of His bones was broken, while He was suffering on the cross, in fulfillment of the prophecy. Genesis 22:8Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." and the two of them went on together. After reaching Moriah, Abraham, laid his son on the altar, so as to sacrifice him to the Lord. Testing is entirely a different phenomenon from that of temptation. God tests believers in him, but he never tempts any one, nor is he tempted. It is the Satan that brings in temptations. 1 Corinthians 10:13 reads. "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. "It is exaggeration, if someone says that one could not bear temptation, and hence one had to commit sin. No temptation is beyond one's capacity and if at all any temptation seems to be beyond the capacity of bearing, God assures deliverance from it. In fact in times of trials and tribulations, man deliberately commits sin, and falters, for his own satisfaction, and blames God, stating that the temptation was beyond his control.Genesis 22; 2,16 reads as follows: " Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains. I will tell you about."God was testing Abraham, of his faith in HIM. He had pre-planned as to what is to be offered as sacrifice to Him, but did not reveal it to Abraham. It was Abraham's absolute faith that brought about the blessings in his life. God ordered Abraham to go to the region of Moriah, and offer his only son, whom he loved most.Genesis 22:13"Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son." When Abraham obeyed God, without doubting or questioning Him, he saw the miracle happen in his life. God provided a ram to be offered as sacrifice in place of Isaac. It was commendable act on the part of Abraham as also on the part of Isaac, who lied down on the place where he was to be sacrificed without opposing his father. Then Abraham went over, and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of Isaac.Genesis 22:17 Then God, intervened and said, "... "I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you..."Instead of holding up his son, Isaac, Abraham tied him and placed on the altar to sacrifice him to our God. This act pleased God, very much, and hence He assured that He will bless Isaac. How is that we get salvation, if Christ died for us?"We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way..." Isaiah 53:6"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". John 14:6 Satan has a very tactful and deceptive idea imbibed in men. People say all religions lead to heaven and different Gods are different ways to enter heaven. But the Bible says Jesus is the only way to enter heaven. Sheep always keep their head downward while walking. If the shepherd is not there in front, they will all go astray. They have no thinking power. If we do not commit ourselves to Jesus Christ, we will also not have a leader, and go astray. Bible says, the remuneration that we obtain from sinning is nothing but death, that is death of soul. But when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior. He gives us a gift that is eternal life in heaven. No one can enter heaven except through Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life. He is in Father, and the Father is in Him. Holy Spirit proceeded from them or, and now he is available for to seek his counsel, guidance, help, and comfort. "...to ask who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God..."John 1:12 Jesus Christ gave the right for us to become his children and call him, Abba, Father. He has purchased with his precious blood shed upon the cross of Calvary. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 Believe in Jesus Christ. Believe that He is the Son of God. Believe that he forgives our sins, when we confess them to Him. Now is the time to ask him to forgive sins What is salvation? Who will enter the kingdom of God?Salvation is the free gift, unmerited favor God. He has it given to us through His Son Jesus Christ. Who ever believes in Jesus Christ will be saved. Romans: 10:9"That if you confess with your mouth, `Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved". Joel 2: 32a and Romans 10:13 ‘…Every one who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."John 3:3-5While speaking to Nicodemus Jesus said "I tell you the truth, no can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." " How can a man be born when he is old? Nicodemus asked, "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit...."What is faith? Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. It is the belief reposed in Jesus Christ, that He is the Messiah, He is the Son of God, and He is our personal savior. Acts 3:13-16"The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murdered be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. By faith in the name of Jesus name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see."This is an important passage revealing the acts of Jews, who delivered Jesus to be crucified. Peter and John were going up to the temple, where they saw a man crippled from birth. The crippled beggar was begging every day at the temple gate, a favorite entrance to the temple court. It was called "Beautiful". The beggar asked Peter and John, for alms. Then Peter called for his attention towards him, and said " Silver or Gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk". Peter helped him stand on his feet; and the beggar's ankles became strong and began to walk. The onlookers were surprised as to how this miracle had happened. Then comes out Peter with his strong words. He says, " Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?" He gives importance to God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He glorified Jesus Christ. When Pilate wanted to release him in place of a great murderer of that time, Barabbas, they chose to have Barabbas released for them, rather than Jesus Christ. They conceded Jesus to be crucified. It is the Jesus' name and the FAITH that comes through him that has given complete healing to the Crippled beggar, said Peter. There are several instances quoted in Bible to indicate what faith is. The blind man, cried out to Jesus, "Son of David, have mercy on me." Jesus asked him as to what the blind man would like to have from him. The blind man, immediately responded, and put forward his need. The faith that he had saved him, and he received his sight. Another blind man, on whose eyes, Jesus put his spittle, and asked him to go and wash his eyes in the pool of siloam, obeyed the instructions of Jesus, without any reluctance. His faith saved him and received his sight. The thief lying on the cross, by the side of Jesus requested Jesus to remember him when He comes in his glory. Jesus has forgiven his sins immediately, and granted him a place in heaven, then and there. The sins of paralytic man, the sins of adulterous woman, were forgiven, then and there. This is the faith of a person, on Jesus Christ, that leads him to heaven. Faith on Jesus Christ, that He is our personal savior is important, inasmuch as by doing so he is earning for himself a place in heaven. Total faith in God heals a person. It may not be an instant healing in certain cases. But God will show a way out once the process of healing starts through the grace of God. If we obey His commandments, in faith, healing takes place. Jesus Christ did not adopt one and only one method of healing when he did miracles during his ministry on earth. FAITH is very important but faith without works is like rowing a boat, with one oar. If word "faith" and "works" are written on each of the two oars while rowing the boat and if rowing the boat is attempted with one oar, the boat keeps revolving at one place. And if the rowing is made with the two oars, the boat with the persons in it reaches the destination. Similarly, had the blind man, who was asked to go the pool of siloam, to wash the spittle that was applied on his eyes, by Jesus, not gone and washed it off, as instructed, certainly he would have remained blind forever. Asa, the king depended purely on physicians, and refused God's help; result was that the king remained on bed, till his death. Cf. 2 Chronicles 16 chapter. It is the dependence of God, by faith, with or without medication that brings out the results. Apostle Paul prayed three times to remove the thorn from his flesh, but the answered he received from God, is that, "My grace is sufficient for you". God has purpose for everyone and does put some thorns, in the people whom He loves, so that they may not backslide into the sinful world. Romans 4:22-24This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness. The words "it was credited to him " were written not for him alone, but also for us, to who God will credit righteousness - for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Bible says, that the words "righteousness" was not for Jesus Christ alone, but for all that believe in God, the Father. There is, therefore, absolutely no doubt that God, will attribute righteousness to us, when we believe in Him and believe that He raised Jesus Christ, His Son, from dead. He is our Lord and Savior. Who should we believe on? How should be our faith?Believe on Jesus Christ - you will be saved. Howsoever grave the sins of a sinner are, when he/she confesses them to Jesus Christ, and asks him to forgive him/her immediately, his/her will be forgiven by God, and he/she will get salvation. Faith should be total. There should be no room for doubt, at all. Resurrection Jesus Christ rose up from the dead, on the third day. Thus he was triumphant over death."...`do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen...He is risen from the dead.' " Matthew 28: 5-7Why Jesus Christ ascended into heaven?"So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God." (Mark 16:19) Jesus Christ manifested himself, to many of his followers after resurrection, and then he ascended into heaven to sit on the right hand of the God, the Father, to intercede on behalf of the mankind. He ascended into heaven so as to send the counselor and comforter "Holy Spirit" into the world. Had he not ascended into heaven, we would not received Holy Spirit, to be with as our counselor, and we would not have had any one to intercede on behalf of us with God, the father. God is Holy. It is with the intervention, on behalf us, that God has mercy towards us. We cannot straight approach God. It is only through Jesus Christ that we can approach Him.
