Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
I. God promised Abraham that he will make Abraham a great nation.
• God promised that Abraham’s posterity will be like the dust
of the sand.
• God promised eternal life to Abraham’s posterity in physical
and spiritual form to inherit the Kingdom of God.
• God promised to take care of Abraham’s posterity in
Ishmael.
Genesis 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I
will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand
which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of
his enemies;
II. God promised to bless Abraham.
• Temporally Genesis 13:14-15 And the LORD said unto
Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now
thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art
northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For
all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy
seed for ever.
• Genesis 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant
with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land,
from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river
Euphrates:
• Genesis 24:34-35 And he said, I am Abraham’s servant.
And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is
become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and
silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and
camels, and asses. • Spiritually Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and
he counted it to him for righteousness. John 8:56 Your
father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and
was glad.
III. God promised to make Abraham’s name greater than any name on the earth.
IV God promised to make Abraham’s name a blessing: Galatians
3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being
made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that
hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the
Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of
the Spirit through faith.
V. God promised to bless every one, who blesses Abraham
VI. God promised to curse every one, who curses Abraham
Deuteronomy 30:7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses
upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted
thee. Isaiah 14:1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will
yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers
shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of
Jacob. Joel 3:1-8 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I
shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also
gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for
my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations,
and parted my land. And they have cast lots for my people; and
have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they
might drink. Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and
Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a
recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I
return your recompence upon your own head; Because ye have
taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my
goodly pleasant things: The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove
them far from their border. Behold, I will raise them out of the place
whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon
your own head: And I will sell your sons and your daughters into
the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the
Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. Micah
5:7-8 And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many
people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that
tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men. And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many
people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion
among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth
down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver. Haggai 2:22 And
I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the
strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the
chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders
shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. Zechariah
14:1-3 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be
divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against
Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses
rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth
into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from
the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those
nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. Matthew 25:40 And
the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my
brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:45 Then shall he
answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it
not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
