"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works"   2 Timothy 3:16, 17

NO WEAPON THAT IS FORMED AGAINST THEE SHALL PROSPER

Leslie M. John

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD”. (Isaiah 54:17)

This verse basically points to the protection that God assures to the children of Israel but as the children of God through faith in him and saved by the blood of Jesus Christ every one of us who had the experience of salvation can claim it. This is not a blanket promise to every one but only to those Christians who truly serve Lord Jesus Christ. No weapon either in words, or with swords, or of arms of any kind will prosper against the Children of Israel and likewise no weapon formed against the children of God shall prosper. Israel will be restored and God will surely take care of them. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. God said whoever blesses Abraham will be blessed and whoever curses Abraham will be cursed. If we want truly blessings from God never ever curse Abraham or the children of Israel.

Isaiah Chapter 54 as a whole is addressed to the children of Israel, who have played harlot as far as their faithfulness and obedience to the Lord, is concerned. They have been asked time and again by God to be faithful to the living God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, yet they have gone to other gods and worshipped them. Our God does not accept any one worshipping the idols and other gods. He will not share his glory with any body else, leave alone giving away his glory; never does he give his glory to any body. He is the God of gods. He has promised the land of Canaan, the land where milk and honey flow. This land is blessed and God promised to give to the children of Israel. They have never been able to conquer the whole Promised Land until now because they never recognized Messiah. Most of them either believed that their Messiah has not yet come or they are atheists. God chastised them several times and in spite of facing such chastening from God, the children of Israel had been disobedient to God. They denied the Son of God as their Messiah and they have not yet realized that Lord Jesus Christ was the Messiah. They have been handed over to their enemies several times because of their disobedience. They had been taken captive by Assyrians and Babylonians and they are scattered. Some of them have returned to Israel and there is a free Nation now, yet the return of Jews in full is not yet completed. They are yet to get hold of their Promised Land in full. Presently they are occupying only a part of the Promised Land.

In spite of all these, the children of Israel are God’s people. God said just as hen gathers her children under her wings he will gather them under his wings. He will give them the Promised Land but not before they undergo the ‘great tribulation’ also called ‘Jacob’s Trouble’ in the seventieth week of prophesy that is in Daniel 9th Chapter.

The married wife represents the children of Israel, the ancient Jewish Church, while the children of desolate represent the gentile Church, which took birth when Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah. In Isaiah Chapter 54:1 God asks the barren woman to break forth into singing because the children of Gentiles have been accepted into the Church and it is larger than the Jewish Church. The Church, which is the bride of Jesus, consists of Jews and Gentiles and it is above Israel.

"Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD”. (Isaiah 54:1)

It was a mystery hidden in God and that mystery was revealed in Acts 13:46-47, Romans 11th Chapter and Ephesians Chapters 1 to 3 that salvation is made available to Gentiles.

"Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles. For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth”. (Acts 13:46-47)
