“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may
abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost”. Romans 15:13
Abraham was too old to have a son and Sarah his wife almost did not believe that she could have a child in her old age, yet both of them hoped in God’s Word and believed on the promise God gave them that they will have a child and the seed of Abraham will be blessed to the extent that his descendants will be like stars in the sky and sand on the shore.
In the land of Egypt the children of Israel grew in number that posed a threat
to the king of Egypt, who had already forgotten, who Joseph was. The birth of
children in large numbers, from the Patriarchs, in the land of Egypt, caused
fear in the mind of Pharaoh, who, therefore, ordered that every male child born
to Israelites be killed.
Moses was born at a time when the children of his age were ordered to be killed
by Pharaoh, yet the mother of Moses had faith and hope in God so she made a
small basket of papyrus wood and lay her child in that basket, which she gently
placed on the banks of Nile river.
The king appointed two Hebrew midwives, namely, "Shiphrah", and "Puah". (Exodus 1:15). These midwives are ordered to kill every male baby that takes birth to Israelites, and concede female babies to live. This was the strategy of the king of Egypt, who hoped that such plan would eventually pave the way for diminishing number of male children in the houses of Israel, while the number of Egyptians would increase. However, the midwives did not obey the king of Egypt, because they feared God. When the king of Egypt came to know about this, he called for these two Hebrew midwives and asked them why they did so. The midwives replied that the children were born even before they attempted to kill them, and thus, they escaped from the wrath of the king. In the meanwhile, a man from the tribe of ‘Levi’ married a woman from the same tribe and had a son. When the woman saw that the child was exceedingly good, she hid him three months. (Acts 7:20 reads “In which time Moses was born, and was exceeding fair, and nourished up in his father’s house three months”).
Look at the providence and protection of God, who kept the child safe from all
the dangerous living beings like sharks, or snakes or great fish. The child was
saved from the peril of the death. Not only was the child saved from the death,
but Pharaoh’s own daughter, who went down to the banks of Nile River to take
bath found the baby lying in the basket and took it lovingly and adopted the
child. Look at the marvelous ways God works in the lives of His children. The
child later grew and became the leader of Israelites. God fed his child with the provisions of his enemies!
Is there anything impossible with God? No. If God wants to help a person, no one can stand in the way of God’s ways of executing His plans.
“And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God”.
Luke 18:27
