“And his brothers also went and fell down before his face; and they said,
Behold, we are your servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in
the place of God? But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it
unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive”.
(Genesis 50:18-20)
Joseph’s brothers did not like the interpretations Joseph gave of the dreams he
dreamt.
Joseph’s father rebuked him when he interpreted his second dream.
Joseph’s brothers felt jealous of Joseph and conspired to do harm to Joseph.
“And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes. Come now therefore,
and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil
beast has devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams”.
(Genesis 37:19-20)
Joseph’s brothers cast Joseph in a waterless pit. Later he was pulled out by
Midianites who sold him to Ishmaelites, who in turn, sold him to the Egyptians.
Joseph proved himself worthy of his calling by escaping from the seduction of
Potiphar’s wife. Joseph remained true and honest to his master, Potiphar. Things did not seem to be going in favor of Joseph, when he was trying to escape from the trouble. He actually got in to the trouble when Potiphar’s wife accused him of molesting her. His master gave credence to his wife and sent Joseph in to prison.
Later, when Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dreams he was released from the prison
and Pharaoh made him governor in the land of Egypt. He had great authority in
Egypt.
“And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Since God has showed you all this, there is none
so discreet and wise as you are: You shall be over my house, and according unto
your word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater
than you”. (Genesis 41:39-40)
“And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift
up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt”. (Genesis 41:44)
In spite of having all the authority on his side, Joseph acknowledged in Chapter
45:8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but god. He made me father to
Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.”
Let us turn to Luke Chapter 23 verse 34 Jesus said, “Father forgive them, for
they do not know what they are doing…”
How great is the love of Jesus Christ, the Savior of this world. While chief
priests and the teachers of the law, who were standing near the cross of
Calvary, accusing the Son of God, Jesus Christ, While Herod and his soldiers
were ridiculing him and mocked him, Oh! Then, Jesus said,” Father forgive them,
for they do not know what they are doing…”
The people there were representatives of all of us. We were all crucifying Jesus
on the cross of Calvary. We all nailed his palms to the hard cross, and crowned
him with crown of thorns
Should we not receive him as our savior and acknowledge him as our Lord? Yes,
Jesus is the Lord. He is the savior. Let us worship him in spirit and truth.
