JESUS SAVES YOU
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
(Matthew 9:29)
The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and
the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to
them. (Matthew 11:5)
Even though Jesus did miracles, yet Jews, who usually took delight in miracles,
did not believe on Him as their Messiah, because they thought their Messiah
would come like a king in a royal family. Contrary to their expectations Jesus
was born as a poor man in the womb of Virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Ghost.
After Jesus grew up and started his ministry at the age of about thirty he chose
few and called them to be his disciples. One such disciple was Matthew, who was
a Publican; he collected customs and tax. Jews hated tax collectors because they
were, in collaboration with authorities, harassing them. But then, this tax
collector, Matthew, found grace in the sight of the Lord, and he was called to
be one of his disciples. Matthew willingly accepted the calling from Jesus and
instantly responded by following him. At one point of time, when Jesus was
sitting with tax collectors and sinners, Pharisees, a learned sect of Jews,
questioned him as to why he was sitting with them to eat. When Jesus heard that
question, he answered and said that those who are healthy do not need a
physician, but they that are sick need physician. That was to tell them that the
righteous do not need Savior, but sinners do need Savior. Basically, Jesus came
for his own people, that is, the Jews; but then the salvation is extended to
Gentiles also because Jews rejected Jesus as their "Messiah".
The miracles that Jesus would do were prophesied in Isaiah 35:5-6 “Then the eyes
of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then
shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the
wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert”. The prophecy was
fulfilled when Jesus healed the sick. God said to the children of Israel through
Moses that if they "hearkened diligently to the LORD", the Lord would not bring
upon them any of the diseases that He brought upon Egyptians (Exodus 15:26). But
they disobeyed God several times and their disobedience needed reconciliation.
Adam rebelled against God by transgressing the commandment of God. Bible records
that we are all sinners by birth and there is no one righteous.
According to 1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us". The Children of Israel transgressed the
commandments of God several times.
In order to reconcile man with God, the Son of God, Jesus came into this world
in the form of man to take upon our sins on him and die in our place that
whosoever believes on him shall receive salvation and be saved from eternal
damnation. God loved man so much that He gave his one and only Son, Jesus Christ
that whoever believes in him shall be saved.
Friend, are you burdened with the thought that your sin is too great that it can
not be forgiven? Please be sure that every sin, except blasphemy of the Holy
Spirit, is pardonable by God.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"
(Matthew 11:28)
